The Fire Department/Office of Disaster Management (ODM) Fire Chief Clive Richardson said on Thursday that the fifth named storm of the season Tropical Storm Elsa, is a stark reminder that you have to be prepared for the Atlantic hurricane season in the event that a storm system forms.

According to the Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten (MDS), Tropical Storm Elsa does not pose a direct threat to the country but will be monitored and the public will be updated accordingly.

Tropical Storm Elsa is a clear example of a fast-moving system heading that is for the Windward Islands (Barbados, St. Vincent and St. Lucia) and is forecast to pass near or

over portions of the aforementioned islands late Friday and Friday night.

The remaining names for the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season are: Fred, Grace, Henri, Ida, Julian, Kate, Larry, Mindy, Nicholas, Odette, Peter, Rose, Sam, Teresa, Victor and Wanda.
