DEN HAAG/PHILIPSBURG -- On June 23, 2021, the Sint Maarten House in the Netherlands in collaboration with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) organized the first virtual Summit event 'Doing business in Sint Maarten'.

During this event, RVO gave a presentation about promising partnership opportunities between Dutch and Sint Maarten entrepreneurs regarding what is needed for a successful systematic matchmaking program.

The virtual Summit event 'Doing business in Sint Maarten' was well attended with a total of 84 participants. This was a great first step to provide information about the opportunities in partnership and to bring parties that are looking for business matchmaking opportunities in touch. In addition, it is very important that parties know who is involved in this great initiative and which organizations they can turn to for questions regarding 'Doing business in Sint Maarten'.

During the Summit event 'Doing business in Sint Maarten', there were informative presentations from Ministry of Tourism, Economic affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT), The Sint Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry (COCI), The Cabinet of the Minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten (KGMSXM), Caribbean Chamber of Commerce EU (CCCE) and Business Acceleration Platform Sint Maarten (BAPS). The partners and supporters are ready to help entrepreneurs with questions regarding ?Business Matchmaking in Sint Maarten.? The next step is to match parties with each other.

In RVO?s latest newsletter, the 'added value' of two of the supporters in the context of business matchmaking are highlighted, namely Caribbean Chamber of Commerce EU (CCCE) and Business Acceleration Platform Sint Maarten (BAPS).

The Caribbean Chamber of Commerce in the EU (CCCE) also gave a presentation during the Summit 'Doing business in Sint Maarten'.

The Caribbean Chamber of Commerce in Europe (CCCE) was created to facilitate trade between the Caribbean and Europe and to promote investments from Europe to strengthen the Caribbean economy.

Through its growing network of partners and experts working on either side of the Atlantic, CCCE is aiming to complement, not duplicate or substitute, activities of other business service or trade organizations by providing:

  • access to market information & intelligence that will help companies in Sint Maarten to increase their scope for business opportunities beyond the Netherlands in other European markets, and vice-versa, companies in the Netherlands to consider the potential of Sint Maarten/St. Martin as a regional hub.
  • access to the international matchmaking and community management platform developed for and used by Chambers of Commerce in Europe.
  • access to multi-lingual communication and promotion services to bring the diversity and business opportunities Sint Maarten has to offer to the forefront of the media, both in the Caribbean and across Europe, to the attention of other stakeholders and investors.

CCCE is based in Brussels, the capital of the European Union (EU). CCCE can assist Dutch companies to access various programs, which in support of EU policies provide funding in the form of grants for specific projects, usually following a competitive 'call for proposals' (where part of the funding comes from the EU, part from other sources), such as the European Territorial Co-operation (i.e. Interreg).
