The Honorable Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor, Richinel Brug, marked his first full year in office by hosting a staff appreciation and reflection event for the Ministry of VSA, honoring the dedication and service of civil servants, pensioners, and employees celebrating work jubilees.
During the gathering, the Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to staff for their commitment to serving the people of Sint Maarten, particularly in challenging circumstances and periods of staff shortages. He emphasized that the Ministry’s progress this past year would not have been possible without their professionalism, sacrifice, and teamwork.
Special recognition was also given to persons going on pension in 2025, and long-serving employees whose years of service continue to shape the Ministry and the country. The Minister acknowledged their contribution to building a stronger, more compassionate public service.
As part of the program, the Ministry’s State of Affairs assessment document and the strategic direction were presented, followed by a reflection on 2025 accomplishments and a discussion of priorities for 2026. Minister Brug highlighted achievements in social development, care for our most vulnerable, elderly care, mental health, labor, and internal capacity building, while reaffirming his commitment to further strengthen services in the year ahead.
The event concluded with a message of appreciation from the Minister and a toast by management team in honor of staff, retirees, and stakeholders who continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the people of Sint Maarten.
