Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Provides Update on Upcoming Works at Oranje School
The Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport hereby informs the general public that upcoming works will include the demolition of a section of the exterior wall at Oranje School.
The Ministry wishes to clarify that confirmation has been received from the Department of Culture that the exterior wall in question does not form part of the protected monument designation. The designated monument pertains specifically to the school’s office building.
The Ministry further assures the public that the section of the wall scheduled for demolition will be reconstructed following the completion of the works. The reconstruction will be carried out in a manner that restores the original appearance of the wall and ensures that it remains consistent with the character and historical look of the existing school structure.
These works are being undertaken with due care and consideration for the historical significance of the Oranje School compound. The Ministry remains committed to preserving the cultural and historical value of our educational institutions while ensuring that necessary infrastructure works can proceed responsibly and safely.
The public is thanked for its understanding and cooperation as these works are carried out.
