Trilateral conference at Curacao
COMNLCARIB/DDCCG/CTG4.4 Rear Admiral Walter Hansen is hosting the bi-annual trilateral talks between the United States of America, France and The Netherlands cooperating within Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATFS) to counter illicit trafficking in the Caribbean. During these talks the director of the Joint Interagency Task Force-South (JIATF-South) Mark Fedor, rear admiral Nicolas Lambropoulos (COMSUP Antilles), rear admiral Schofield (USCG District 7) and rear admiral (lower half) Walter Hansen discussed the short/medium priorities in the Caribbean region and the opportunities to strengthen the cooperation. Associated organizations JTF-E and MAOC-N were also present. On Thursday the 9th of November, Walter Hansen in his role as Director of the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard, Director of the American Coast Guard (USCG) rear admiral Schofield, and the rear admiral Lambropoulos, senior commander of the French forces in the Caribbean signed an MOU on the renewed agreements for Search and Rescue operations of the coastguards of the three countries in the Caribbean. This MOU is in line with the legal framework of the various IMO and ICAO conventions.
