St. Maarten: November 17, 2022 – Sol Antilles N.V. (Sol) is proud to share that as part of Sol's commitment to the community and environment, it has completed a round of large-scale Oil Spill Response Training that resulted in over 18 local energy professionals being awarded specialist certificates from the international industry cooperative, Oil Spill Response Ltd. (OSRL). This training is in line with Sol’s dedication and focus on safety as the foundation of its operations.

“The sessions were well-attended and included diverse participants from organisations such as the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard, Nature Foundation, SXM Harbour, GEBE, various marinas and Sol’s operations and response teams. We are proud to continue fostering improved relations with stakeholders and exercising our shared interest to protect the environment within which we live and work,” stated Mr. Renaldo Sealey, Sol Antilles N.V. Operations Manager – lead coordinator of the training sessions, and Sol’s local focal point for oil spill response.

The Oil Spill Response Training was conducted by Sol through its affiliation with Oil Spill Response Ltd (OSRL) and supports the continued development of world-class Health, Safety and Environmental Standards within the local energy industry. The sessions were delivered by Mr. Tristan Barston – Senior Consultant of Oil Spill Response USA, and included topics ranging from, basic training and awareness of oil spill response techniques and industry standard equipment, to the identification of areas for improvement in oil spill plan, equipment, and technical competencies, as well as oil spill reporting protocols locally.

The OSRL team also performed a desktop spill simulation and response with the Sol team and its local contractors. Coming out of this information gathering and simulation exercise, a list of recommendations for spill response capability improvements was developed for future implementation. Successful participants received an Oil Spill Awareness Training certificate from OSRL, demonstrating their improved capacity to execute world-class Health, Safety and Environmental Standards within the local energy industry.
