POND ISLAND -- The Prime Minister announced that in consultation with legal advisors as to the protocols involved, it will be decreed that flags fly at half-mast

Government will therefore, by decree, declare that St. Maarten is in a period of mourning and will fly flags at half-mast. This is a symbol of solidarity with what people at home and abroad are enduring in this pandemic as well as for the nine people who passed away on St. Maarten from COVID-19 or related issues.

Flags will remain at half-mast until it is decided that threat of the pandemic has passed.
