POSH interscholastic Pageant

Philipsburg, July 1st, 2023 - Posh Productions (POSH) proudly announce the crowning of the first King and Queen of the Mr. and Miss POSH Interscholastic pageant. Luis Florentino from Milton Peters College (MPC) and Shiloh Williams from The Methodist Agogic Center (MAC) High School emerged as the winners of this prestigious title.

The Mr. and Miss POSH Interscholastic pageant served as the national pageant, showcasing the talented delegates representing MAC High, St. Maarten Academy, and MPC. Each school crowned a King and Queen to participate in this grand event. “There is nothing more important to this nation’s future than investing in our young people” stated POSH’s President Cassandra Jeffers-Weekes quoting Michele Obama

Representing MAC High School, Shiloh William competed as Contestant number one among the females, while Ijaelen Sanderson represented the school as Contestant number two among the males. For Milton Peters College, Rayeesha Boirard represented the females as Contestant number two and Luis Florentino represented the males as Contestant number one, respectively. Finally, Imani Telford and Kevin Omeus represented St. Maarten Academy as Contestant number three for both females and males.

Under the platform of POSH, the Mr. and Miss POSH Interscholastic pageant aimed to highlight talent and intellect, showcasing the winners from the participating schools. The pageant commenced with a lively opening number, featuring the delegates dressed in cheerleading attire which captured a very school spirit theme. Following the opening, the delegates introduced
themselves through speeches.

Miss Williams, Contestant number one, portrayed an aspiring stylist and shared her aspirations to become the youngest designer to put Sint Maarten on the international fashion map. Miss Boirard, Contestant number two, delivered an explosive speech announcing her determination to become Sint Maarten's first forensic pathologist. Contestant number three Miss Telford expressed her aspiration to become a gynecologist, emphasizing her dedication to delivering and saving lives.

The pageant then transitioned to the male speech segment, where delegate number one Mr. Florentino representing MPC shared his vision of becoming a pilot and owning a fleet of aircraft to provide exceptional service to and from SXM. Contestant number two from MAC High School Mr. Sanderson delivered a compelling skit and speech in both English and Japanese, expressing his ambitions of becoming Sint Maarten's first Japanese-speaking ambassador in Japan. Lastly, Contestant number three Mr. Omeus from St. Maarten Academy captivated the audience with his performance and speech about his pursuit of becoming a marine biologist.

The talent segment followed, starting with the female contestants vying for the crown of Ms. POSH Interscholastic. Miss Williams, Contestant number one, delivered a dramatic dance and spoken word performance to raise awareness about mental illness. Miss Boirard, Contestant number two, presented a skit highlighting the importance of preventing teenage pregnancy and called for an educational program focusing on healthcare for young girls. Contestant number three, Miss Telford representing SXM Academy, delivered a powerful skit and dance advocating for children's rights.

The male contestants were up next to showcase their talent through various performances. Contestant number one Mr. Florentino presented a court-based skit that placed the education system on trial that it fails to evolve, lacks creativity, and fair compensation for teachers.

Contestant number two, Mr. Sanderson representing MAC High, delivered a captivating spoken word performance centered around the battle against mental illness. Finally, Contestant number three Mr. Omeus from SXM Academy combined dance and skit to shed light on the effects of
judgment and bullying.

In the creative attire category, the judges evaluated the contestants' unique outfits. Miss Williams of MAC High's attire captured the essence of Girl Scouts and honored the iconic Mrs. Meyers- Hazel. Contestant number two Miss Boirard from MAC High showcased a creative piece made from various school supplies, featuring an enlarged logo of the school. Contestant number three Miss Telford appeared in an ensemble crafted from pieces of uniform fabric from all high schools on Dutch Sint Maarten, accented with laptop fragments.

The male contestants showcased their creativity in the next segment. Contestant number one, Mr. Florentino from MPC, wore a map-themed suit symbolizing his desire to explore the world.

Contestant number two Mr. Sanderson from MAC High paid tribute to Tata, Sint Maarten's

beloved school bus driver known for his strict rules and discipline. Contestant number three Mr. Omeus from SXM Academy wore a suit made of sticky notes, with colors resembling the ocean's coral, representing his affinity for marine life.

The evening concluded with the Prom wear segment. Miss Williams from MAC High graced the stage in a radiant pink and green floral gown, while Contestant number two Miss Boirard from MPC made a grand entrance via a chariot, revealing a stunning pink semi-sequined slim-fit dress.

Contestant number three, Miss Telford from Academy appeared in a pink and gold sequined dress.

Among the male contestants, Contestant number one Mr. Florentino from MPC arrived in a green and gold tuxedo, following a "Coming to America" theme. Contestant number two Mr. Sanderson from MAC High donned a green suit with purple accents and a maroon tie. Lastly, Contestant number three Mr. Omeus from Sint Maarten Academy wore a turquoise suit with African print elements.

The following winning scores illustrate the placement of the winners and Runner Up positions for each participant of the first annual Mr. and Miss POSH Interscholastic Pageant; Queen

Williams won the Miss POSH Interscholastic title with a score of 934, Boirard was the 1st Runner Up among the females with a score of 928, and Telford secured the 2nd Runner Up position among the females with a score of 781. King Florentino won the Mr.POSH Interscholastic title with a score of 947.50, Mr. Omeus secured the 1st Runner-Up position among the males with a score of 946 and Mr. Sanderson was the 2nd Runner-Up among the males with a score of 870.

The Mr. and Miss POSH Interscholastic pageant organized by POSH Productions celebrated the talent, intelligence, and creativity of the delegates from MAC High, Sint Maarten Academy, and Milton Peters College. It served as a platform for the youth of Sint Maarten to showcase their aspirations and contribute to the island's growth.
