SMDF Presents Audited 2019 Annual Report to PM Jacobs
PHILIPSBURG – The St. Maarten Development Fund (SMDF) closed out the month of June by presenting its Audited Annual Report and Financial Statements for 2019 to the Government of St. Maarten via Minister of General Affairs and Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs.
The audit, conducted by Stichting Overheidsaccountantsbureau (SOAB), provides a detailed overview of SMDF’s internal operations as well as its funding activities to 26 NGOs across 5 thematic areas, namely organizations working in the areas of Youth Development, Social Care, Senior Care, Poverty Alleviation and Gender Support. Furthermore, the report goes into detail about the closure of the Fund’s Senior Home Repair project following the devastation caused by the 2017 hurricane season and the launch of its community engagement activities.
Taking the opportunity to brief the Prime Minister of SMDF’s other projects, Managing Director Makhicia Brooks and Program and Development Manager Melanie Choisy also provided an update on the ongoing COVID-19 response activities.
