Annual Interscholastic Debate Competition

The Sint Maarten Youth Parliament is hosting the Fourth Annual Interscholastic Debate Competition under the theme Mental Health and Education. This year will feature three debates, starting on October 22nd, 2022 at 6pm at the Rupert I Maynard Youth Community Center in St. Peters. The Entrance Fee is $2.

This year’s participants include the defending champions St. Dominic High School, Milton Peters College and the Learning Unlimited Preparatory School. The Sint Maarten Youth Parliament encourages the public to come out and support the students as they debate on mental health within our education systems.

This year, the Sint Maarten Youth Parliament platform wants to ensure that all the youth are represented in a topic that has been deemed taboo in our society. Youth Parliament hopes that these debates can help aid the much needed conversation within our community. Schedule:
Debate 1: Saturday October 22, 2022 @6pm– Milton Peters College (Pro) vs St. Dominic High School (Opp); Moot - Students do not have enough time to eat a proper nutritious meal during school hours.
Debate 2: Saturday October 29, 2022 @6pm - Learning Unlimited Preparatory School vs Loser Debate 1
Finals: Saturday November 15th, 2022 @7pm – Winner Debate 1 vs Winner Debate 2
