Government Administration Building Closed for Scheduled Sanitization

POND ISLAND -- As part of the protocol to ensure the continuous safety of government employees and the general-public, Deputy Prime Minister Egbert J. Doran has announced the closure of the Government Administration Building on Friday, August 21, 2020, in order to allow cleaning and sanitization of the entire building. The cleaning and sanitation will continue into the weekend and will cover all floors, offices, and common areas. All services will resume on Monday, August 24, 2020, as usual.

Additionally, persons with appointments for Friday, August 21, 2020, at the Civil Registry Department, Permits Department (VROMI), and the Economic Licenses Department, as well as persons with an appointment for their certificate of good conduct application at the Philipsburg location, will be rescheduled by the respective departments. These persons are asked to monitor their email for a new confirmation date and time for their respective services. In the event that an email was not provided, these persons will be contacted by phone with a new appointment booking.

Persons who would like to make payments by check at the Receiver’s cashier services may do so by making use of the dropbox located at the front of the government building or by paying online via their respective banks. This can be done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 12:30 PM. Online payments via your respective banks are also an option for payments to be made.

The Department of Labor Affairs and Social Services will reopen partially on Monday, August 24, 2020, following the guidance of CPS. Clients who had appointments that were unable to be attended to due to the sudden closures of these services will be contacted and prioritized. The general-public is hereby reminded to continue remaining compliant to the health protocols given the “new normal.” It is mandatory to wear masks in public places, practice regular handwashing and hand sanitization, as well as maintaining a 2-meter distance from other persons when in public.
