Marathon “Move” Event To Mark CIBC FirstCaribbean 11th Year Of Cancer Support

October 12, 2022 12:00 pm

Philipsburg, Sint Maarten 12th October 2022 -  Events are in full swing across the region as CIBC FirstCaribbean pledges for the 11th year to support cancer awareness events, persons living with the disease, their families, and caregivers through the Caribbean’s largest cancer charity event - Walk for the Cure.

St. Maarten joins other business units with their events such as a “Hunt for the Cure” in the BVI, and a “Walking Dinner” in Curacao, with its primary fundraiser “Move for the Cure”. This time around, the walk comprises a walk, dance & yoga marathon event. Proceeds this year will benefit the Nurses we care, do you? foundation, a group of selfless caregivers, caring for many patients affected by this dreadful illness.

On Saturday, October 29 persons can join the “marathon” and participate in all three events or do a “half marathon” by participating in any two events, such as walk and yoga, walk and dance, or dance and yoga. Truly something for everyone.

Starting at 5:00AM, the walk commences at CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Philipsburg branch onwards to the Boardwalk, down Front Street to Down Street and then to the Pondfill before returning to the bank. The marathon continues with a dance workout by 721 Nico Fitness and concludes with yoga by Mindful Sou.

The bank is very appreciative of the support of its partners - Real Auto, Caribbean Gems, DHL, Port St Maarten, Subway, CC1-Dasani water, and Flow Wellness Boutique, as this allows for continued care, education and awareness.

“Move for the Cure” tickets are available at both the Philipsburg and Cole Bay branches. Donations are also welcome at these locations via the in-branch donation drop boxes or the Walk for the Cure account, CIBC FirstCaribbean Account C/A 10055400.

For more information and or registration forms, persons can reach out to the Walk for the Cure Manager, Petra Abdul-Hamid at petra.abdul-hamid@cibcfcib.com.
